Mentally shag out
Hmm basically for the past 2 weeks have been mentally shag out between work and my firearms course. Although its my department send me for the course, I still have to go back to work, like for morning shift have to go work first then after which proceed for the course. But if its in the afternoon shift then we just have to go for the firearms course first after which by a certain time need to report back for work whereas for night shift, need not report back for work on the first night but second night have to report back. But that's still not all, if it happens that day there isn't any shoot and it doesn't fall on our off days, we are still required to report for work but if there's shooting on our off days, we are required to go for the shoot. Hence as a result for the past 2 weeks haven't been really rest well due to the traveling here and there. Well talking about my firearms course, to me its just another shooting period for me to test my shooting skills and perfect it. But due to the reason, I set myself a very high standard to achieve so at times when I saw my shots landed at the 1 point area, I sort of disappointed and worse still when it landed at the 0 point area, my mood all gone.. As a result, during my trial test shoot for my second part, when 1 shot land at the 1 pt area and 1 shot land at the 0 pt area, my mood all gone and as a result, instead of able to get marksman, I get first class which is one level lower than marksman. Damn it sia but luckily its just a trial test so I still can have the chance to strive for a better score again. Just before the test, we get 10 rounds to test the firearm zeroing and to warm up our engine. And during the warming up, my shots all landed at the bottom left instead of the middle. Hence need to counter the problem myself by re-aim another spot only then I able to get the shots to land at where I want it to land. Finally I manage to recompose myself again for the test and manage to score 91 out of 100 to attain my marksman.. Yeah.. but sad to say there's isn't any monetary rewards but its just a personal achievement achieve set by myself. Below are the targets shot by me during the test for the 3 stages. part 1 : basic shooting part 2 : skills shooting part 3 : night shoot Hmm so far so so my firearms, next is about work. To think that during one of the day when I'm still on course, I still have to go back to work for my BOT. Hence that day which is the day before e the last day of the shoot, I was on morning shift. Hence early in the morning had to report for work then around 1130hrs report off from work and headed down for the firearms course. After the course, had to rush back again for perform the remaining time left for my BOT. But luckily they put me at the back at a non driver counter. But all these traveling here and there for the day really shack me out as I do admit I'm getting old... wahahaha Then on Friday after the test shoot instead of going back to rest, I still need to rush down to SP for my PPCDL theory test at 1900hrs. The place there to me is like a maze as the place is so big and the location of the test centre is so far end. But the moment when I reached the test centre, I was greeted by horror. I can't find my name on the list of people who are taking the test on that day. Hence I had to walk to their SMA office at another block away. When I asked the counter staff about it, they say they do not receive any booking from the SAFYC stating I'm taking the test. Hence call up the SAFYC to reconfirm everything and they asked me to ask the SMA side to see that time the registration form I put 18aug or 25aug. So I had to bother the SMA staff to search for the pile of papers and in the end found out that I indeed had written clearly 25aug but instead of 25aug, they go and register my name together with the class that I attended on the 18aug instead. But the SMA staff is kind enough to allow me to sit in for the test seeing that I've already traveled down but it'll be sort of difficult for their side and the SAFYC regarding for the payment. But for me I already have no mood to take the test and for me I don't really like to cause any problems for others so I just rejected the offer. WTH seh.. its not my fault nor my mistake but I had to clear up the mess. Hence I have to wait for another month before I can take the test. But in terms of the payment is still a question mark as by right it should be paid by the SAFYC but now its still unkown they are paying for me or I have to pay for myself. Damn it... Even up to this point of time, the SAFYC is still sure are they paying anot though its a mistake that they commit. Haiz.. think I'll just have to wait for another month before I can take the test again which means I wasted another month before the dateline of dec.. Hmm just pray for the best and hope tomorrow will be a better day ba.. Think I've penned too much hence shall stop at here at the moment. But if you bloggers wants to view the rest of my targets during my firearms, you can view it at my msn space. Till then, wish ya all the best and do enjoy the weekends unlike me still have to work.. Motivational
Wow it seems that recently I'm really able to come in often to update my blog quite often again like in the past whereas its almost I make it a point to update everyday then as time goes by, getting a bit of lazy hence its once a week followed by once a month. But now its like back to once a few days when my mood is there to come in and update. As I've said in my previous entries, this month August really seems to be a good month for me. Reason being till now, my roster has been consider quite okay and to the situation of the moment start work have to work non stop till either break time or meal time. So shall try to keep all my fingers cross at all times... Yesterday attended the first day of the basic firearms course conducted at the CISCO building organize by my department. Its due to the reason that all of us have to attend it as in the time to come when we're convert to the HUS, we'll need to carry firearm while performing our normal duties. Well basically yesterday for me is considered as a fresher or can I say its a boring day? As it was our first day in which most of the people do not handle firearms before hence as a SOP, they need to run through all the SOP and not forgetting the safety precautions. Then for me is that I've already learnt and taught all these either during my school days in NPCC time, during my army days and even during my times when I was still sort of active at the airsoft pistol shooting. But luckily for the second half of the lesson is practical session hence get to hands on on the new weapon, Taurus. Well it definitely differ from the previous firearms I handle before as this one the barrel is shorter, handle seems to be shorter but the best thing is that it has a laser aided hence making the shooting much more easier. But since its only the first day, naturally there isn't any live shooting conducted. But after the course, instead of going back home to rest, we still need to report back to work for 3hrs till our afternoon ends. But as the course ends late and got struck in the traffic jam, we reported work at 2000hrs instead of 1900hrs. Due to that, our roster need to be changed again and hence we landed up at departure bus hall. The surprise thing was that I had a relief at around 2035hrs and they pull me to arrival bus hall instead as they say its crowded. But when I reached there, there isn't much crowd at all so I just take my own time to do the work. But for today which is the second day, there was a weapon handling test in which all of us must take to ensure we learnt by heart all those safety precautions and SOP. After which, we proceed on to the live firing session. But before we start, the instructor show us a demonstration and told us we need to fire off 35 rounds for the day each. Hmm think for me is that its either its been a long long time since I fire any firearms especially when I'm already used to train firing long firearms or another reason is that all my basic fundamentals of shooting all getting rusty in which some of my shots landed outside of the target at the no point area. Damn wth.. But luckily overall I still manage to score 46 out of 70 without the help of the laser but just using both the front and rear sight. But although my score can consider not bad but I still consider it as quite low in which I was actually hoping to score a minimum of 50. Gross luckily tomorrow there isn't any range so my fingers can get to rest abit for the next session on Thursday but still need to go back to work as it's our first morning shift. Hence shall stop at here for the time being and need to catch some rest for tomorrow or should I say for later working in the morning. But looking forward for the next few sessions of the firearm course as it quite fun. Blessed..
Wow seems like this month August is like a lucky month for me as just up to now, there's already some good things happening around me. Think you bloggers must be thinking what I'm talking about right? Okay I shall try to explain myself further so that you all won't be lost and if can spread my luck to all those out there. Firstly is that, I also don't know that I've been rendering my service for the community for such a long time until recently I received a call from the community centre that I've been awarded the 'Long Service Award' of 5 years. Gross that do seems like long in which I had lost counted of it. Actually it was to be presented to me during the CC's national day dinner but due to me had to perform OT, hence I never collected on stage but anyway its better as I still prefer to stay low profile.. Wahaha.. Next is that although yesterday I never get to go watch the NDP live at the stadium as it'll be the last time they having there before the place is to be tear down and rebuilt again but I get something back in return. Though been schedule under the train roster for a few times, I always never get to clear one type of train which is the Eastern & Oriental Express train. Let me tell you more about this train that makes it so special. Firstly is that this train only arrive once a month and seldom will operate. Next is that as this train only operate from Bangkok to Butterworth to KL and lastly Singapore and not everyone can have the chance to get a ride at the train as the cheapest train ticket is US 1k plus which is equivalent to SGD 2k plus. So usually its the foreigners who takes the ride. But maybe its the type of high class train and the service that they render that's why the tickets are so costy. But although I won't have the chance to hike a ride in the train but at least I still manage to catch a glimpse of the interior and not forgetting capture a few photos of it. Just compare the following photos with the normal train and you'll find the price worth it.

Yeah..
Yeah finally its August, the month in which I have been waiting for is here.. Firstly is my 1 year probation will be up on the 20th and most important is my basic pay will be lift up due to the increment... Wahaha.. Although its not much but if you look at the long term, it'll mean a lot. Then also this month, I'm taking my PPCDL theory test at the later part of the month. But before all these can happen, I still must suffer as on the last day of July I had to perform BOT and before that, I still had to attend the pre-shifting briefing. By doing so, it 'eat' into my resting time as they put my resting during that period. Hence straight after the briefing, I only have enough time to pack my dinner first before all the food are gone and only the leftover food will be left. As expected, I'm roster at the departure side for my OT. Although for the 2 periods I'm doing the non driver side, but its the first non driver counter. Hence it make no difference at all as there's lots and lots of cars going in as its a public holiday over at that side. Then as I thought that my last period would be clearing motorcycles but who knows by the time I take over, it had already been converted back to clearing cars again as there's isn't much motorcycles. As a result, its damn tired working at the front few counters as you won't be able to stop and take a break at all. But luckily the next day manage to do bus hall in which the crowd is not that much as compare to yesterday but my roster also sort of messy in which I relieve people late due to late closure of my counter and other people relieve me late also due to no people relieving although that counter can't be close at all. Then the most funny thing is that I only able to go for my 15 minutes break at 1422hrs then after which I still need to open another counter at 1435hrs but by 1450hrs they close my counter as I don't have any relief so in other words I only open the counter for 15 minutes. After work we still can't go back yet as we still have to attend this don't know what intel road show which lasted till 1730hrs.. Hmm finally today will be working night shift and hope that I'll be able get better roster and able to survive through the night. Till then wish all those out there all the best and take care.. "I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are."
